Lionel Shapiro Hits the Right Tone
Introduction:
Lionel Shapiro was one of 17 war correspondents listed in a news column re Sicily and published in The Winnipeg Tribune in July 1943. Each correspondent is worthy of attention, and pursuit via research.
I stumbled onto a reference to Shapiro's book in the back pages of a used book I was thumbing through at Attic Bookstore in London earlier this year, ordered it via AbeBooks, read it thoroughly and concluded - after reading each page - it was worth every penny.
